Fat Injections

To enhance and provide volume
Lipoinfiltration
also referred to as ‘lipofil’ - is the transfer of fat from one area of the body to selected areas of the face. The small particles of fat are interspersed throughout existing tissue to enhance volume.

Why choose Lipofiltration?
Lipoinfiltration is used to replace missing volume which occurs with ageing and to enhance a natural feature, such as an underdeveloped jawline or thin lips. In most instances, lipoinfiltration can be performed as part of a facelift or upper lid procedure and the results are virtually immediate.

How the surgery is performed

While the fat used for transfer can be taken from any part of the body, the preferred donor area is the hip, followed by the abdomen and thighs. The fat is obtained using a needle designed to leave no residual scar, but there is a bruise. Preparation of the fat is required before it is placed into existing tissue. Lipofil can be performed under a local anaesthetic (involving numbing the treatment area only) or under a light general anaesthetic depending on the desires of the patient.

Who will benefit from this procedure?
Lipoinfiltration creates natural and long-lasting volume for people with thin lips and other areas of deficient volume. It can also improve the appearance of ‘sunken’ eyes through the transfer of fat to the upper lid area. The procedure does not replace the need for a proper facelift. The fat which ‘takes’ is permanent, but more fat may be needed if more volume is required.
