Blepharoplasty
Bright eyes restore life and freshness to a face that is starting to lose its sparkle. Recent developments in facial surgery is good news for people concerned about the tiredness creeping into their appearance. The quality of improvement possible in the upper eyes is quite remarkable compared to traditional surgery.
The bright eye surgery is based on a long established technique, first used in the eighties. Eyelid surgery has taken recent refinements to achieve the ‘miracle’ results that is now possible. Unfortunately, many people are not aware of this, as they have formed an opinion about cosmetic surgery based on the ‘obvious look’ of the traditional results seen everyday.
Just as discerning people appreciate the special quality of high end designer accessories, some also look for that designer quality in cosmetic surgery. This refined level goes under the name, Aesthetic Surgery, “the quality that pleases the senses”, which everyday cosmetic surgery fails to do. With designer accessories, it is the attention to detail in the internal work, not visible to the eye, that is the difference in obtaining that special quality. The internal support is the key element, but not only when new. It is also the reason why the shape and look remains the same over time, without showing the usual effects of wear and tear. The ongoing pleasure experienced by the owner of a classic bag is from appreciating that quality over the years. And so it is with eyelid surgery where this designer quality is the reason for the Tarsal Fixation technique.
Undetectable technique
Dr Mendelson’s eyelid surgery focuses on correcting the internal structure of the lid, not the skin directly. When the internal shape of the lid is correct the skin then returns to its original or ideal position without it needing to be unnaturally tight. This internal work is undetectable although it is seen in the results of the Tarsal Fixation compared to usual eyelid surgery. The incision is shorter and the scar itself is just not visible, even with the eyes closed. The results of Dr. Mendelson’s internal eyelid surgery is lasting and does not need to be repeated.
When Tarsal Fixation Surgery is performed by an experienced surgeon , it is completed in less than an hour in day surgery. Postoperative bruising, if present, is negligible and the swelling resolves in the third week. Dr Mendelson has been performing the Tarsal Fixation technique since 1989 and is currently involved in teaching the technique to other Plastic Surgeons.
