Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeon

A person's face is the very essence of their identity. Accordingly, when it comes to having surgery on your face, it is understandable why you would want to do your research to find the best plastic surgeon for your needs.

Some plastic surgeons perform the full spectrum of surgery, others specialise in body surgery whereas a few specialise in surgery of the face. When doing your research, how can you know who is the best plastic surgeon for your particular needs? The best way is a personal recommendation from someone you know who has had a good experience with a surgeon. Unfortunately, most people who have facial surgery do not give a recommendation, as they do not want anyone to know they have benefitted from surgery!

International Teaching

Anybody can find out which surgeons are selected to teach other surgeons at Plastic Surgery Teaching Courses and Congresses. These surgeon teachers are recognised by their peers as the current leaders in the field and selected for their understanding, experience and mastery. There is no higher recommendation than this. These surgeons will have published their experience and advances in peer reviewed plastic surgery journals. Information is readily available from the surgeon’s website if they are attending international meetings. Alternatively you should check the website of the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery www.ISAPS.org

In Australia, we have very few surgeons at this International level. In Aesthetic surgery of the face Dr Bryan Mendelson is internationally recognised by his peers and has given over a 100 invited international presentations and frequently performs live surgery demonstrations of his “Facelift surgery using the Premasseter Space approach”, most recently in Barcelona in 2010 and Istanbul and Brazil in 2011.

Australian patients demand a natural looking result from their facial rejuventation surgery and to achieve this a higher standard of surgery is required.
